Pit and pipe works
You should review the process below before you commence any work to ensure that the designs and builds are done according to nbn™ network standards to avoid remediation, delays or fees.
nbn will assess your eligibility to receive the nbn™ network using the details submitted by the pre-qualification online tool. Qualified applications are sent a developer agreement which would specify which sites require nbn™ infrastructure and costs. If you are unsure if your development should follow the pit and pipe building process, contact nbn and quote your stage application reference.
A new request and developer agreement will need to be submitted if there are amends to the number of sites to be constructed.
The developer or their representative is responsible for designing and building the pit and pipe works according to nbn™ network guidelines.
For all of your development stages, you will need to:
If there are no issues with the pit and pipe works, nbn will issue you with your Certificate of Practical Completion and nbn will organise the installation of the nbn™ network to your development stage.
It is nbn's responsibility to install the nbn™ network. Once nbn receives your as-built designs and PCN, nbn will organise a site inspection. As part of the PCN, you will need to transfer ownership of the pit and pipe works free of all encumbrances. For Horizontal MDU, as part of the PCN, you will need to grant a licence to nbn for the exclusive use of any pit and pipe works that are free of all encumbrances.
nbn will install a local network conduit on the street of your development that can be connected to the building entry point of the premises in your development. The installation will be completed with the aim to meet the estimated premises occupation date as provided by you. Once complete, nbn will send you a notice that the site is in service.
All premises must be connected to the nbn™ network through a service provider by the resident.
In-home cabling for the nbn™ network for your nominated technology must be done by registered cablers using nbn standards and guidelines.
nbn has prepared marketing resources to assist you with the promotion of your nbn™ network ready property.
