Local farmers harvesting the benefits of the nbn™ network

Murray Darling Fisheries is Australia’s largest exporter of Murray Darling cod, thanks in part to the nbn™ network.

Business owner Noel Penfold lives in small-town Euberta, 20km outside of Wagga, where he runs one of the country’s most successful fisheries.

Five years ago, Murray Darling Fisheries was exporting around 200,000 Murray Cod, Golden and Silver Perch. With improved communication enabled by the nbn™ network, the business is now exporting close to 2 million fish – allowing Noel to expand his business to fully service overseas demand. The nbn™ network has improved communication between Noel and his clients overseas substantially, allowing him to keep in touch online and act instantly to meet requests and fix problems in ways he couldn’t previously. Today, Noel has almost doubled his exports to China as a result.

With the expansion of the business, Murray Darling Fisheries has employed more workers in the peak season which has increased job opportunities in the local area.

Noel is connected to the nbn™ network via fixed wireless technology.

*Your experience, including the speeds actually achieved over the nbn™ network, depends on the nbn™ access network technology and configuration over which services are delivered to your premises, whether you are using the internet during the busy period, and some factors outside our control (like your equipment quality, software, broadband plans, signal reception and how your service provider designs its network). Speeds may be impacted by network congestion on nbn’s Fixed Wireless network, including during busy periods.
