NBN Co announces new Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer

NBN Co today announced the appointment of Mr Will Irving as Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer. Mr Irving’s appointment into this expanded transformation-led role follows a decision by Mr JB Rousselot to leave nbn after six years of outstanding service.

NBN Co’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Stephen Rue, thanked Mr Rousselot for his significant contribution to the Company:

“I would like to thank JB personally, and on behalf of the Company, for six years of outstanding service. In that time JB has held a number of key roles across the Company from leading our strategy team through to scaling our
network operations.

“JB’s contribution will be felt for many years to come. Since joining NBN Co he has been a key member of the leadership team and a driving force in ensuring that NBN Co is well positioned to complete the build by June 2020."

Mr Irving joins NBN Co having spent just over twenty years at Telstra. Mr Irving’s career at Telstra spanned the legal and regulatory portfolios, and more recently, leading the wholesale business including forming and leading Telstra InfraCo. Mr Irving left Telstra in October 2018.

Mr Rue also commented on the appointment of Mr Irving:

Mr Irving said:

“With less than twelve months of intensive construction left, NBN Co has made impressive progress to complete the initial rollout. I am excited to be joining the team at an important time as the Company enters a new phase of maturity and we work to maximise the benefits of the nbn rollout for all Australians.”

Mr Rousselot will remain with NBN Co until October to ensure a seamless handover to Mr Irving who will commence on 1 October 2019.

Biography of Will Irving

• Mr Irving worked at Telstra for over twenty years in various senior management roles including:

- Group Executive Telstra Wholesale, Interim CEO – Telstra InfraCo

- Group Managing Director, Telstra Business

- Group General Counsel

• Mr Irving started his career at Mallesons Stephen Jaques (now King & Wood Mallesons) and holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce.
