Melissa Mallet is nbn™ Local Manager North Queensland at NBN Co.
A qualified journalist, her background is in broadcast journalism, where she worked for more than a decade as a TV and radio journalist in regional and metropolitan newsrooms across Queensland.
She began her career in Toowoomba and the Sunshine Coast for WIN News, later becoming part of the 6pm reporting lineup and national bulletins for the Nine Network in Brisbane.
It was here she specialised in regional affairs and natural disasters, travelling across the state to report on major breaking news for the 6pm news, while also filing special reports, including on the drought crisis.
She played a leading role in the network’s award-winning coverage of the 2011 Queensland floods and Cyclone Yasi.
She now lives in Townsville and has become a passionate North Queenslander. She led the Channel Seven newsroom and also worked as the city’s leading radio station’s morning breakfast news presenter, reporting on the key issues, concerns and needs of local communities.
Melissa has a passion for regional Queensland. Born in Charleville, with family still strewn across western Queensland, she is the first to spruik the benefits of living as a regional Queenslander and now lives and breathes it.
Since joining NBN Co almost three years ago, she has held roles in regional Stakeholder Engagement and Corporate Affairs.
