For the nbn™ Technology Choice Program
The nbn™ Technology Choice Program provides you with the option to pay for a change to the nbn™ technology infrastructure at your residential or business premises. Payments cover costs associated with supporting nbn™ Technology Choice Program applications, as these activities are additional to nbn's rollout activity.
Applicants may withdraw their application at any stage, but payments made for work performed up to the date of withdrawal are non-refundable.
Each application is assessed individually, with a specific quote provided to build and connect the new nbn™ technology.
A standard quote fee is applied per premises – some concessions may apply for Area Switch applications as per the table below.
Please note that we are unable to provide a build quote until these fees are paid.

This cost can vary and can depend on the scale of the change of nbn™ technology. In each case, nbn takes steps to ensure the design provides the lowest cost option aligned with nbn™ standards.
The cost per premises for a Group Switch or Area Switch may be lower on average than an Individual Premises Switch.
Please note that the changes as part of the nbn™ Technology Choice Program are not directly comparable to the published average premises costs of the national rollout of the nbn™ network. The published averages reflect the costs for nbn to deploy the nbn™ network on a large scale, incorporating access technologies determined to be most appropriate and cost effective for the relevant location – therefore, the cost of choosing a different technology from what has been planned is generally higher than the average.
